The Dell Mobile Connect app’s main functions have included hands-free calling, sending and receiving SMS, and MMS messages. As well as displaying phone notifications on computer screens. It also allowed users to navigate their phone screens using a computer’s mouse or touchpad.

Till November 30, 2022, both the Alienware Mobile Connect app and the Dell Mobile Connect app will be accessible for download in the US, Canada, and Japan. Prior to being shut off on January 31, 2023, the services will be available. Users outside of these nations will have less time because the apps will only be accessible until July 31, 2022.  Its services end on November 30, 2022.

Users will be able to use the apps up until the end date. This is according to a Dell support website article that broke the news.

“Dell recommends uninstalling Dell Mobile Connect or Alienware Mobile Connect from both your Dell computer and mobile devices by the regional discontinue date. This frees up storage space and ensures an optimum device experience,” cited the page.

Dell is ending Mobile Connect: Alternatives?

Although the software is no longer pre-installed on Dell’s most recent machines, SMS services on your PC are still available. Other applications will keep running, such as Microsoft’s Phone Link.

Link to Windows is an Android-only software that can only be used with Windows 10 and Windows 11 operating systems. Unlike the Dell and Alienware apps, which are compatible with iOS and Android. Messages can still be transferred between Apple devices via iCloud, but using Windows will require additional third-party software.

The business that created the technology for Dell Mobile Connect, Screenovate, was actually acquired by Intel in 2021, therefore the program might appear soon someplace else.

By the end of this year, according to Windows Central, the business plans to deploy a comparable tool of its own, with Intel Evo devices being among the first to support computer, smartphone, and wristwatch syncing.
