2023 Election Hotly Contested

Femi Gbajabiamila: 2023 election hotly contested. The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, declared the 2023 general elections to be “hotly contested” as the National Assembly reconvened on Tuesday after its recess.

This was stated by Gbajabiamila in his opening remarks to the plenary, which lasted for about one hour.

The speaker is the federal representative for Lagos State’s Surulere 1 Federal Constituency, where the opposition Labour Party dramatically defeated the incumbent All Progressives Congress.

Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the APC’s presidential candidate and generally regarded master of Lagos politics was defeated by Peter Obi of the LP.

At the elections held on Saturday, a number of APC candidates for the Senate and the House also fell short of their LP rivals.
