Enugu East Shifts Senatorial Polls

Enugu East shifts senatorial polls to March 11. The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced that the Enugu East senatorial election scheduled to hold this Saturday alongside the presidential election has been moved to March 11.

This is a result of the death of the Labour Party’s candidate, Oyibo Chukwu, on Wednesday. The news was announced by INEC chairperson Mahmood Yakubu at a media briefing in Abuja.

Chukwu, was killed and set ablaze at Amechi-Awkunanaw in Enugu South Local Government Area. Gunmen who operated in a Hilux attacked opened fire, and set ablaze the campaign vehicle, killing him and his personal assistant.

The Enugu State Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Ammani, has ordered a manhunt for the killers of the Enugu East senatorial candidate.
