Manchester City footballer, Benjamin Mendy raped a young woman. Afterwards, according to the jury, he told the woman, ” it’s fine, I have had sex with 10,000 women”. Mendy is accused of attacking the woman aged 24 at the time of the incident. The incident occurred in his home in Mottram St Andrew, Cheshire in October 2020.

 

He is also accused of the attempted rape of another woman aged 29 at the time. The woman claimed that the footballer attacked her at his home two years ago. Mendy is standing trial at Cheshire Crown Court. He has denied both charges.

 

The jury could not reach verdict on charges of rape and attempted rape in a trial that ended in January this year. Hence, the need for a retrial on those two charges.
